Melantroop
Short film
A young researcher struggles with insomnia and the hallucinations that come with it. After consulting her doctor, it becomes clear that her symptoms are deep-rooted.
Staying close to the protagonist, the viewer is swept from one location to another in a frantic city. The audience becomes a witness to the fragile world in which Marta tries to keep her balance. When Marta disappears into a mysterious hole, a new - or rather primitive - world comes alive. A place were anything is possible and humankind is not yet known. At that moment, the film transforms from a structured narrative into an enigmatic and sensory journey.
Melantroop is a reflection on how our environment changes over time. What is our role in relation to nature, and what does this interaction provoke?
The earth we walk on has a long memory – longer than that of man.
